CHIOMA KILLED BY KIDNAPPERS IN AZUMINI, UKWA EAST, ABIA STATE #Source :The Sun
Kidnappers operating within Aba, Abia State at the weekend killed a
woman, Mrs. Chioma Chukwura, who they had earlier abducted.
The late Mrs. Chukwura, who resided in Aba with her family, had
travelled to Calabar, Cross River State with her driver, one Chikodi.
From Calabar, she and her driver headed to Port Harcourt in Rivers
State for an undisclosed transaction when on reaching a point at Azumini
in Ukwa East Local Government, she was kidnapped by gunmen while the
driver escaped into the bush.
A source told Crime Watch Today
that some days after she was kidnapped, her captors opened up channel of
communication with the husband and demanded N10 million ransom, which
was reduced to N2 million.
The place where the money should be kept was agreed upon by the kidnappers and the widower.
However, as the husband was said to have fulfilled his own side of the
bargain, the kidnappers were said to have, while attempting to collect
the money became suspicious that they were being trailed by some
security operatives, went back and killed the woman and dumped her body
inside the bush.
When nothing was heard about the kidnappers and
their victim, her family alerted soldiers of the 144 battalion, Asa who
found the body under a shrub.
