tenure of Senator T. A Orji as governor of Abia State.
The Accountant General who was due retirement after serving for 8 years under former governor T. A Orji, got extra 2 years extension by the then governor now senator before he left office. Abia Facts Newspaper learnt that the extension was strategic with the focus of covering all alleged financial misdeeds of the past administration.
Other top civil servants that enjoyed the strategic extension includes; Mr. R.K Madu who is the Director of Finance Abia State Government House, Chief Ukwachukwu Agomuoh former Permanent Secretary Abia State Government House, now Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health and Dame Chimechefulam Nwoke the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment. The extension which was backed up by an amendment in Abia state Civil Service rules was moved by Hon. John Pedro in the last Abia State House of Assembly and adducted before the expiration of the former governor’s tenure now Senate T. A Orji.
It was also learnt that the above mentioned civil
servants were all due retirement on a Friday and the amendment was done
on a Thursday with immediate extension letters served them. Our source informed us that the aim of the extension is to protect
alleged financial recklessness of the past government and also to work
as informants in Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s led government. Sir. Gabriel Onyendiefe is the owner of Jerobi Hotel in Umuahia, one of
the biggest hotels in Umuahia town. He has been fighting hard to cover
